Day 01 Arrive Delhi
A relaxing wellness journey awaits you. On arriving in Delhi, the Pearl Luxe representative will welcome you warmly to one of world's finest ancient capital cities – Delhi. You will be escorted to the award-winning Imperial Hotel, a fine example of colonial charm and Indian hospitality. As you spend time getting acquainted to Delhi, we recommend some essential reading. The Seven Cities of Delhi by Gordon Risley Hearn and Delhi by Khushwant Singh give a sharp insight into Delhi's magnificent history.
Day 02 Delhi (Sightseeing)
Discover the city that has attracted poets and conquerers over centuries! The capital city of India is a perfect mix of old world charm and urban sleekness. Delhi boasts now a modern metro system, bringing it to the ranks of world capitals with state - of -the - art transportation systems. Start the journey at the iconic Qutab Minar, the tallest minaret in the world. Towering elegantly above the city's denizens, it stands over 73 meters high, like a silent sentinel, witnessing the hustle bustle below.
From here you will move on to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Humayun's Tomb, a timeless mausoleum of incredible beauty. A visit to Delhi is incomplete without strolling through its lush, scented Mughal Garden.
It's time to enter colonial Delhi. You will visit Lutyens' Delhi, glimpsing the seat of power of modern India. Drive by plush colonial style homes; the Presidential Residence - Rashtrapati Bhavan; and pay homage at the eternal flame flickering at the martyr's memorial at India Gate.
From white colonial era buildings, enter a vibrant, colorful and ancient world - Delhi's Old City, where time has lingered on infinitely. Explore its hidden secrets before making way to India's largest mosque, the exquisitely designed Jama Masjid. Hop onto a cycle rickshaw to explore the narrow alleyways. Don't forget to feast on local culinary delights in Chandni Chowk or the Moonlit Square. Savor on lip smacking parathas, sweets, chaat, and pakodas. This area is also perfect for shopping. Colorful glass bangles, traditional clothes and sparkling bindis and trinkets are must buys.
Spend the evening around Connaught Place, developed during the Raj as the city's Central Business District. Admire its Georgian architecture, spend time in the innumerable shops, and have a bite or two before you return to the hotel for the night.
Day 03 Depart Delhi, arrive Rishikesh via Dehradun
Enjoy breakfast at the Imperial after which the Pearl Luxe representative will escort you to the airport to board a flight to Dehradun, the capital city of Uttrakhand. Located in the Doon Valley, Dehradun is famous for the country's premier boarding schools and is home to a few tea estates too. From here, the Pearl Luxe representative will escort you to Rishikesh, a two hour scenic drive from Dehradun. Rishikesh, named after Lord Vishnu, Lord of the Senses, is located in the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. The holy land attracts countless devotees each year from across the world who come for pilgrimages to the 'Teerth Nagri' or 'Yog Nagri.' A city of temples, yoga and meditation, Rishikesh is also a gateway to the Himalayas. On arrival you will check in the luxurious Ananda In The Himalayas, surrounded by graceful Sal forests, overlooking the holy River Ganga. Day 04 Discover Ananda In the Himalayas
Spend the day reconnecting with yourself at this destination spa resort, indulging in one of the many activities it offers. You can attend complimentary lectures on Vedanta, conducted by senior disciples of Swami Parthasarthy, internationally acclaimed exponent of Vedanta, helping you acquaint yourself to the eternal principles of life and living. Or you can tee off at the golf course, or play a game of billiards, housed in the vice regal palace. If you feel like cooking up a healthy storm then pick up tips from Ananda Chefs who conduct once-a-week sessions on cooking. And head to the amphitheater on the weekends, where talented young performers from a nearby children's home put on stage enchanting, joyful cultural performances.
Day 05 Discover Rishikesh
Spend the morning luxuriating in the hotel. Today you can try the Urovasthi, a treatment that balances the Heart Chakra and helps reduce stress. Warm, medicated oil is gently poured into a reservoir made from gram flour, on the chest, soothing muscular tissue, alleviating discomfort and balancing the mind-body connection. Choose amongst the menu of treatments. Else you can enjoy the serene environs of the hotel.
In the afternoon you will step out to see the City of Yoga, Rishikesh. There is no view more stunning than that of the mighty Ganges from Lakshman Jhula, a suspended iron bridge, soaring high over the flowing river, giving you a bird's eye view of the surrounding mountains. From the bridge, the river roars down the plains, an awe-inspiring sight. You will also visit the city's main bathing ghat, the Triveni Ghat, perched at the confluence of three legendary rivers: Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Pay your respects at the oldest temple in this ancient town, the Bharat Temple, located in the heart of this vibrant township, right on the banks of the of the Holy Ganges. The temple is dedicated to Bharat, the younger brother of Lord Rama, from the glorious epic, Ramayana.
Day 06 Depart Rishikesh, arrive Delhi via Dehradun
Today you will depart for Delhi. Spend the morning enjoying the fresh mountain air and an invigorating yoga session or a massage at the spa. In the afternoon you will be driven to the Dehradun Airport. The Pearl Luxe representative will be there to receive you when you arrive in Delhi and will escort you to the familiar charms of the Imperial Hotel, where you will stay overnight. Tomorrow you will leave for Udaipur, a city of majestic palaces and wondrous lakes.
Day 07 Depart Delhi, arrive Udaipur
Spend the morning exploring little nuggets of the city or just catching up on reading. Early afternoon the Pearl Luxe representative will escort you to the airport to board your flight to Udaipur, the City of Lakes that enjoys the moniker, the Venice of the East. Oozing old world charm, Udaipur boasts luxury hotels, stunning palaces, and a legacy of the Rajput Maharajas. On arrival at airport, you will be transferred to the award-winning luxury abode, The Oberoi Udaivilas.
An enchanting boat ride brings you to the resort, where. A traditional ceremony ushers you into the property. Reflecting the Mewar tradition, the Oberoi Udaivilas has been conceived as a traditional Indian Palace, resplendent with pavilions, domes, and embellished interiors. Enjoy walks though its sprawling courtyards, enjoy the gentle spray of water from its marble fountains and walk through its lush gardens, overlooking the stunning Lake Pichola.
Day 08 & 09 Discover Udaipur
Spend time exploring the resort that captures the beauty and romance of Udaipur in its broad corridors and stunning arches. After a hearty breakfast, luxuriate by the pool that overlooks Lake Pichola or enjoy the services of the spa where trained therapists pamper the body and soul with rejuvenating treatments. If you fancy a yoga session, the resort offers private Yoga, meditation and pranayam classes, undertaken by the resident Yoga teacher.
Spend the afternoon's exploring this idyllic city of palaces and lakes. Start the tour at the breath taking City Palace that's perched upon a hill-top, with a stunning view of the entire city. The palace itself resonates Mughal-Rajasthani architectural styles. Admire its many terraces, marvel at its massive domes, pass under its curved arches and soak in the beauty of its manicured gardens and fountains.
The sprawling palace has been carefully built out of marble and granite, and is embellished with eleven additional palaces. Exquisite paintings, antique furniture, lovely glass and mirror tiles and marble carvings decorate the palace. Enjoy a meal or a drink in one of the two lovely hotels housed in the complex - Shiv Niwas and Fateh Prakash.
After your visit to the City Palace, it is time to stroll through the Sahelion ki Bari, or the Courtyard of the Maidens. Wander through the delightful gardens decorated with fountains, kiosks, a lotus pool and marble elephants. You can hear the tinkle of laughter of the queens in these pristine environs.
Visit the sacred Jagdish Temple, post which you will take a boat ride on Lake Pichola (subject to water level), else you can hop on to a rickshaw and take a delightful ride through the narrow alleyways of the city, passing bustling bazaars and grand havelis.
On the second day, step out of the glorious city of Udaipur to visit Ranakpur, to glimpse the fabulous 500-year-old Jain Temples, that have been wonderfully preserved despite the vagaries of time. Marvel at the many temples in the complex, including the Surya Temple, Amba Mata Temple and the Chaumukh temple, built for many different deities,. Did you know that the 29 halls of the main temple have 1444 pillars, each uniquely sculpted and different from the other? Post your temple tour, head back to the hotel in Udaipur, a 95 kilometer drive from Ranakpur.
Day 10 Depart Udaipur, arrive Mumbai
After a hearty breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport to board your flight to Mumbai. Bid farewell to the City of Lakes. On arriving in Mumbai, the Pearl Luxe representative will escort you to a luxury hotel overlooking the Arabian Sea.
In the afternoon, set off to explore the financial capital of India. Start with the imposing Gateway of India, the iconic landmark built to commemorate Emperor George V's visit. Take a boat ride and then make your way to the green lungs of the city. In the lovely Hanging Gardens you can still see the old English art of topiary. Fancy having a dekko at an open air laundry? Continue to Dhobi Ghat, a very popular tourist stop, where many Bollywood movies have been shot. Watch the laborious process of physically cleaning and ironing hundreds of items of clothing.
Drive past the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (known as Victoria Terminus) and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum (closed on Monday).
